After all the hype surrounding the New York Jets last offseason fizzled out when Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign, many have been down on their chances to salvage something significant out of their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback.
But they have made some notable additions this offseason, including wide receiver Mike Williams and offensive tackle Tyron Smith, and their roster looks strong, at least on paper.
Emmanuel Acho said on FS1’s “Speak” that the expectation for this year’s Jets is simple: the Super Bowl.

That was the expectation last season, but without a decent QB, New York instead sagged to a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs for the 14th straight year.
This time around, everything will once again hinge on Rodgers’ health and how well he is able to play at age 40 with many years of wear and tear on his body.
He is unquestionably one of the NFL’s greatest signal-callers ever, but Achilles injuries tend to rob athletes of plenty of their agility, and if Rodgers is rendered a virtual statue on the field, he may not be able to play above the level of a replacement player.
If that is the case, the Jets will be hard-pressed to even make the playoffs in what looks to be an improved AFC.
But if Rodgers recaptures his magic from past years, they should have a shot at reaching the big game for the first time since the late 1960s.
Once again, it seems like it will be either feast or famine for the long-suffering Jets.
