After he failed to come through in Super Bowl LVIII, Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers’ second-year quarterback, is finding himself being doubted by plenty of national pundits and fans once again.
Never mind that he led the NFL is passer rating and QBR during the regular season and led his team to two come-from-behind wins in the playoffs to even reach the Super Bowl.
Purdy has two seasons left on his rookie contract, which means in about a year or so, the 49ers will have to pay him handsomely, and Emmanuel Acho said on FS1’s “Speak” that they should pay him “whatever is demanded.”

At worst, Purdy has proven himself to be a near-elite quarterback and about on par with men such as Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa, and possibly even Lamar Jackson, who just won the regular-season MVP award.
He makes quick and accurate reads, even when being blitzed, he is mobile and can throw accurately on the run, he is accurate on throws beyond 15-20 yards, and he is cool under pressure.
Those are qualities that aren’t common and cannot really be taught.
The 49ers are over the salary cap and will likely have some difficult decisions to make, especially with stud wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk one year away from the end of his rookie contract.
But at least for now, they still have arguably the best roster in the NFL and should have a strong chance of playing for the Vince Lombardi Trophy again next season.
