The Philadelphia Eagles were able to make the splash move to sign Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley to a three-year deal earlier this offseason.
The former New York Giant will now be a focal point offensively for head coach Nick Sirianni and Co.
Fox Sports host Craig Carton believes Barkley can be in for a big season if he stays healthy.
“If he stays healthy, I think Saquon Barkley has as close to his rookie season as he’s had since then,” Carton recently stated on The Carton Show.
Carton referenced Barkley’s rookie season back in 2018.
That year, he was named the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Year after putting up over 2,000 scrimmage yards and 15 total touchdowns.
He rushed for 1,307 yards that season and added in a rookie running back record of 91 receptions.
While with the Giants for six years, Barkley rushed for over 1,000 yards three times and eclipsed 1,200 scrimmage yards four times.
Only health can be a concern for Barkley, who has not played a full season since that rookie year in 2018.
But with him putting up 1,200+ scrimmage yards and 10+ touchdowns in each of the last two seasons, he is starting to turn himself back into a top-five player at the position.
With a Pro Bowl quarterback under center in Jalen Hurts, two stud wide receivers in A.J. Brown and 1,000-yard receiver DeVonta Smith, and along with an elite back in Barkley, this Eagles offense has a shot to be special in 2024.
Remember, this team still has a bad taste in it’s mouth after finishing last season 1-5 in their final six games and losing in the first round of the playoffs.
They are hungry.
