While the rest of the NFL was scraping and struggling to stack up talent, John Lynch was playing Madden with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Niners gathered as many talented players as they possibly could, and they’ve been one of the strongest powerhouses in the entire league for years now.

Unfortunately, despite multiple trips to the Super Bowl, they still have nothing to show for it.

Now, Brandon Aiyuk, one of their best players, is forcing their hand to part ways with him, as he wants more money than they’re currently willing — and maybe able — to give him at the moment.

He might be the first casualty of this regime, and the first domino to fall in the beginning of their end.

At least, that’s how Chris Canty feels.

Talking on ESPN Radio’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE, the former NFL player stated that the Niners’ window to win a Super Bowl may have closed already.

He pointed out the fact that the Niners currently have eleven players making north of $10 million, and that’s before getting Brock Purdy to sign a contract extension.

He believes that even more of their players will demand more money in the upcoming offseason, and there’s only so much they’ll be able to do because of the salary cap.

Simply put, there’s not enough money to go around there, and they need to make the most of Purdy’s rookie contract in order to keep him surrounded by stars.

Canty believes they could still make some noise this season, but as far as being the team to beat, that ship may have sailed already.
