Analyst Unreservedly Shares Opinions on Justin Fields’ Possible Return as Kick Returner

The original thought for Justin Fields after he was traded from the Chicago Bears to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this offseason was that he would learn behind veteran Russell Wilson for a season.

Well, he might be doing more than that.

According to multiple reports, the team has considered putting Fields at kick returner.

FOX Sports’ Craig Carton believes this could be a great move for the Steelers.

“When he’s got the ball in his hands past the line of scrimmage, he is as dangerous as any player in football…Mike Tomlin is willing to think outside of that preverbal box,” Carton said on “The Carton Show” Friday.

Other than Lamar Jackson, there isn’t a better running quarterback in the NFL.

He holds the NFL record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in one game (178).

He also ran for a whopping 1,143 yards and 8 touchdowns back in 2022 with Chicago.

The former first-round pick is the real deal as a runner.

With his ability to make magic happen in the open field, he could not only be a great kick returner, but he could be a great gadget player on offense.

Imagine Wilson throwing a bubble screen that could turn into a trick play.

Imagine Fields taking a screen 75 yards to the house.

There are so many potential positives that could come out of having Fields.

With quality skill players like Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth, and Cordarrelle Patterson already in the fold, Fields could add a whole new layer to the offense.
