Andreescu Remains Positive After Making Semi-Final In Second Tournament Since Return

Andreescu 'Not Complaining' After Reaching Semi-Final In Her Second Tournament Back

Bianca Andreescu is playing only her second tournament back from injury, and she’s already into a semi-final of the 2024 Libema Open, which makes her happy.

The Canadian missed a lot of time with yet another injury but returned recently at the French Open. After doing well in Paris, she moved on to the grass courts, where she’s playing even better.

We only have to look at her most recent match to understand just how well she’s playing because she bested Naomi Osaka, who has been playing really well herself recently.

It wasn’t an easy match, and Andreescu threw away a chance to win it earlier, but when it mattered the most, she stepped up and delivered in the tie-break. As she admitted afterward, it was a good match from both, but she was better.

“I think the level was very high from both of us today. It could’ve been either of us winning. I told myself ‘whatever happens, happens. I just wanna give my best.’ That’s what I did. I’m very happy.”

The 2019 US Open winner did really well with the serve because she didn’t give Osaka too many chances to exert a lot of pressure on herself. She also returned quite well, which is important on grass.

“I think I did well with my serve and return. The first few shots are very important. It was just my day I guess. Tomorrow she could’ve won. I guess it was just my day.”

Overall, it was a win and a good one for her, so Andreescu was happy with it. It’s only her second tournament back from injury, and she’s already through to a semi-final.

“I feel very very good. Playing against someone like her.. at least now I know where my level is at in a way. For it to be my second tournament back, I’m not complaining. Thank you everyone for the support. It means a lot.”
