Andreeva Opens Up About Getting Upset On Court

Mirra Andreeva was part of the winning team at the 2023 World Tennis League, and she talked a bit about the experience.

Having all those excellent pros around her in a team format was certainly something unique for the youngster. It’s a unique competition that brought together four players who didn’t know each other that well, but it worked out.

She was an integral part of the winning effort as she teamed up with Sofia Kenin in the doubles for some crucial wins. One of those came in the final when they turned around a 2-5 deficit into a 7-5 win.

It was a match Andreeva desperately wanted to win, and it was reflected in her emotions. She’s very young and has these occasional outbursts, which is normal.

She spoke a bit about that as per Gulf News, admitting that even the best make mistakes, which is true.

After the double fault, I thought it’s over, but we challenged and it was in, so we were very happy. Sometimes I get upset when somethings don’t go my way. I think about those mistakes and it’s all the heavy thoughts in my head. Now I’m trying now to just let it go. if I miss it okay, even Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal also miss. So just let it go.

Andreeva is certainly the most interesting talent to emerge in tennis in recent years. There are a lot of things she needs to improve upon to become as good as she can be but for now, she’s been nothing short of amazing.

Experiences like this one will certainly help her get there sooner, as there is nothing like competing with some of the best players in the world. She further reflected on the chance to play at the event after Belinda Bencic pulled out.

When they first told me that that I’m going to be a replacement in the WTL, I was wondering who’s going to pull out from this tournament? But Belinda Bencic pulled out and I got a chance to play. I was super happy that I will be playing with Andrey, Daniil and Sophia. I didn’t really know them well but I am just enjoying being around them as it’s my first big exhibition tournament.
