Andrew Price emerged victorious at the 99th annual Crump Memorial Tournament held at Pine Valley Golf Club in Pine Hill, New Jersey. He secured a 2 and 1 victory over Jimmy Ellis of Atlantic Beach, Florida in the final match on Sunday.
Hailing from Lake Bluff, Illinois, Price triumphed over Bradford Tilley of Easton, Connecticut, the stroke play medalist and top seed, in the semifinal round with a 2 and 1 score. Price, who carded a 4-over 148 in stroke-play qualifying, defeated Evan Beck and Matt McClean in the earlier rounds, both by a score of 1 up.
Ellis, who recently clinched the medalist title at the 2024 U.S. Amateur, secured his spot in the final match by overcoming Stewart Hagestad of Newport Beach, California in the semifinals.
In other results, Jamie Slonis from Sewell, New Jersey emerged victorious over Gene Elliott of Norwalk, Iowa in 19 holes to claim the Senior Crump Cup. Gregor Orlando defeated Greg Nurse by 1 up to win the second flight, while Taylor Wood defeated former Tour pro and reinstated amateur Bobby Wyatt by 4 and 3 in the third flight.
The Crump Cup stands as the premier mid-amateur tournament in the United States. Pine Valley holds the second spot in Golfweek’s Best Classic Courses list.
