The Carolina Panthers may have struck gold in their quarterback dilemma, with Andy Dalton emerging as a potential savior after Bryce Young’s benching.

In his season debut, the veteran signal-caller showcased a level of skill and poise that had eluded Young in his brief tenure.

Dalton’s performance was nothing short of impressive.

He didn’t merely manage the game; he took control, demonstrating the leadership and confidence of a seasoned pro.

His ability to orchestrate scoring drives kept the Panthers in the driver’s seat throughout the contest.

At 36, Dalton channeled the form that once earned him the moniker “Red Rifle.”

His stat line was eye-popping: 26 completions on 37 attempts, surpassing 300 yards and notching three touchdowns.

This feat made him the first NFL quarterback this season to achieve such numbers in a single game, per NFL on CBS.

Interestingly, Dalton’s success against the Raiders isn’t new.

In just four career starts against them, he’s amassed an impressive 1,027 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Originally expected to serve as a backup for the Panthers this year, Dalton found himself thrust into the spotlight after Young’s struggles in the first two games.

The former No. 1 overall pick’s performance left much to be desired, with a completion rate of just 55% and an average of 122.5 yards per game.

For now, Dalton seems to have secured the starting position.

His next challenge comes in Week 4 against a familiar foe—the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that launched his NFL career.

As the Panthers aim to even their record at .500, all eyes will be on Dalton to see if he can replicate his stellar performance when Cincinnati visits Bank of America Stadium.
