Andy Robertson Shares Emotional Tribute to Mohamed Salah
Andy Robertson has expressed his heartfelt sentiments towards Mohamed Salah, who announced on Tuesday that he will depart Liverpool at the conclusion of the current season.
The news of the “Egyptian King” leaving sent ripples through the football community, as he has reached a mutual accord with the club to end his contract a year early, concluding an illustrious nine-year journey at Anfield this summer.
Robertson, who joined Liverpool during the same transfer window as Salah in 2017, took to Instagram to share his thoughts, leading teammates in recognizing Salah’s contributions.
The Scottish captain praised Salah as the “greatest” and emphasized the exceptional standards he maintained for the squad.
In his Instagram post, Robertson wrote: “Mohamed, thank you. Nine of the best years of our lives, filled with incredible memories on and off the pitch. Watching you excel and solidify your status as one of the best to ever wear the Liverpool jersey has been a true joy.
“Your mentality is unmatched, and many could benefit from taking notes. Every day, you have pushed yourself to demand more from yourself and those around you.
“It has been a pleasure to share the pitch with you for so long, and an even greater honor to call you my friend.
“You deserve a farewell that mirrors your legendary status at LFC—the greatest. Second to none.”
Robertson May Also Depart Liverpool This Summer
While Robertson’s remarks primarily focused on Salah’s achievements, he may also be parting ways with the club at the season’s end.
His current deal is nearing its expiration, and reports suggest that the club does not intend to renew his contract.
The 32-year-old has faced increased competition for a starting role after the £40 million acquisition of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
This season, Robertson has made only six starts in the Premier League, which has fueled speculation about a possible return to his childhood club, Celtic, or a move to Atletico Madrid.
He had opportunities to leave in the summer and again in January with interest from Tottenham, but Robertson chose to remain and complete the season.
With both Salah and potentially Robertson exiting, the summer transfer window of 2026 signifies a notable end to the period that brought Liverpool their first Premier League title and a sixth Champions League trophy.
