Andy Roddick Discusses Motivation Following Victory at US Open

Andy Roddick recently shared details about his financial success following his victory at the 2003 US Open.

At 21, Roddick became the World No. 1 in November 2003 and held the position for 13 weeks before Roger Federer took over.

Throughout his career, Roddick earned over $20 million in prize money and won 32 Tour-level titles, ranking among the Top 40 ATP earners. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017.

Recently, the 41-year-old discussed his sponsorship deals with journalist Jon Wertheim, revealing how his earnings soared after winning the US Open in 2003.

“My base deal at 17 was $300,000 a year. After winning the US Open ’03, I earned 3-4 million based on incentives, which was less than what I later signed with Lacoste.”

After retiring from tennis in 2012, Roddick has been active as an analyst for Tennis Channel and hosts the podcast “Served with Andy Roddick.”
