Anthony Martial, former Manchester United striker, receives record-breaking contract offer from AEK Athens

Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial offered largest contract in AEK Athens' history - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been offered a contract by AEK Athens in Greece.

The Frenchman played 317 times for the Red Devils, scoring 90 goals at Old Trafford.

His last few seasons at the club were hallmarked by poor form and injury problems.

This was exemplified last year when he played 19 times at the start of the season, scoring two goals, and then failed to play again after getting injured in December.

It was agreed that he would not be offered a new deal, and he has been linked to numerous clubs in France, Italy, and Turkey, but no move has yet materialized.

The transfer window deadline has passed, but as a free agent, he still has time to secure a move to a new club.

The Sun now states that AEK Athens has offered Anthony Martial a deal, according to reports.

“AEK have promised the former Prem star the biggest contract they have ever given in their 100-year history.”

The club’s biggest earner is former Tottenham player Erik Lamela, who makes £2.1 million a year.

However, the exact details of Martial’s contract offer have not yet been released.

The Greek club are also in discussions with Chelsea to sign striker David Datro Fofana, and it is unclear what bearing this would have on their move for Martial.

If the former United striker were to join AEK, he would replicate his former teammate Facundo Pellistri, who has recently moved to fellow Greek side Panathinaikos.

At only 28 years old, Martial will feel he still has much to add to his career and will surely hope to find a club in the future. Perhaps AEK Athens will finally be the one after months of waiting.
