Antonee Robinson wants USMNT to “keep winning” Nations League titles

Antonee Robinson wants USMNT to “keep winning” Nations League titles

The U.S. men’s national team has already claimed the opening two CONCACAF Nations League titles and a three-peat remains on the cards this week.

Gregg Berhalter’s squad faces Jamaica on Thursday in the semifinals of the 2023-24 edition, with the winner squaring off with either Mexico or Panama in the final on March 24. Fulham left back Antonee Robinson has been part of both title-winning squads in the past and is back again to try and lead the Americans to glory this spring.

Robinson has enjoyed a career-best year for the Cottagers this season, registering seven assists in 35 combined appearances across all competitions. The 26-year-old’s impressive campaign has led to growing interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool for a potential move away from London this summer.

However, his focus remains on the USMNT’s 2024 goals, which includes a potential title lift at AT&T Stadium in the coming days and an additional one at the Copa America this summer on U.S. soil.

“Every time we play for a trophy, it means something,” Robinson said Tuesday. “But I want to keep winning this trophy. I want only us to win it to the point that it gets boring to people that we keep winning it. We always focus on the bigger picture, we know the big, big picture is the next World Cup, but we obviously have a lot of steps in between.

“We’ve got this Nations League and then the Copa, which is probably the second biggest tournament after the World Cup that we can play in and is going to be a real test for us,” he added. “We’re all looking forward to it. Some big friendlies, more Nations League, a Gold Cup next year, so there’s plenty of opportunities to practice in knockout competitions before the big one.”

Robinson’s two-way abilities could be crucial to the USMNT as they try to shut down a dynamic Jamaican attack that features several Premier League faces of their own.
