Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown offered a wild proposition to league commissioner Roger Goodell after the controversial ending to the Week 17 match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions.
The Lions lost the game after they were penalized on a two-point try for illegal touching despite claims by the team that offensive lineman Taylor Decker – who caught the pass that would have given Detroit the one-point win – reported as an eligible receiver.
Players and coaches asserted that Decker told officials he would be an eligible receiver on the play and video evidence appears to show Decker talking to officials before the play, but the call was not reversed and the Lions failed to convert the two-point try on the ensuing attempt.
But, according to Brown, the NFL rulebook gives Goodell the authority to overturn the result of the game.

This is true on its surface: The commissioner has the authority under Rule 17, Section 2 to investigate and/or take corrective measures if the commissioner believes a team was treated unfairly, including either reversing the result of the game or rescheduling
However, this rule has never been used and would likely take a massive push by the Lions to enact.
This rule was almost used last season after the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals game was called off in which Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, but Goodell ultimately decided not to use it.

The result of the game could affect the NFC playoff seedings, but only if the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers lose their remaining two games.
