Argentina’s Lionel Scaloni Hails Alejandro Garnacho’s Outstanding Performance in Victory Over Chile

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni praises Alejandro Garnacho after brilliant cameo in win vs. Chile - Man United News And Transfer News

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has heaped praise on Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho following his superb cameo in a 3-0 win over Chile.

Argentina cruised to the resounding victory courtesy of goals from Alex Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, and Paulo Dybala.

Garnacho came on from the bench and played the final 11 minutes as he replaced Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

Despite being on the pitch for a very limited time, the United youngster registered an assist for Dybala’s goal in the dying embers of the match.

He passed the ball into the penalty area for Dybala, who rifled it in home on the angle to make it 3-0.

Reacting to Garnacho’s contribution, Scaloni said, “The national team needs no one to relax, for there to be a stimulus.”

“We didn’t have Leo (Messi), Angel won’t be there, and we need to see players who can come in.”

The former West Ham defender added, “Alejandro came in and did everything well. (But) we need to take it slowly, calmly, like with the younger players.”

Scaloni further stated (via TyC Sports) that his decision to thrust Garnacho into the action was motivated by the fact that the Albiceleste were edging closer to grabbing the win.

“And he did what he did, which was very good.”

Despite bursting onto the scene at United, Garnacho has had to wait for his opportunities on the international stage.

Over the years, Argentina has been stacked with incredible attacking talent, but the retirement of Di Maria and the fact that Messi is approaching the latter years of his career with the side means that there is now a real opening for Garnacho to stake his claim for a regular starting berth.
