Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is expected to be a player in demand next summer and one former Premier League scout has stated that Arsenal are now in the race for the England international.
There were a lot of rumours surrounding the midfielder’s future at Selhurst Park during the summer with Tottenham being the main club showing interest in the 26-year-old.
However, an offer never arrived for Eze to the surprise of Crystal Palace’s chairman Steve Parish, who told Sky Sports that he was “astounded” by the lack of interest in the talented midfielder during the latest transfer window.
“I was really worried from a club point of view of losing Michael and Ebbs in the same window and we didn’t have in Ebbs the interest that I thought we would have,” Parish said.
“I was astounded. Genuinely astounded. I mean, the guy’s just an outstanding footballer, an outstanding person.”
Having remained at Crystal Palace for the 2024/25 campaign, Eze is expected to be a man in demand next summer and several Premier League clubs are believed to be monitoring his situation at Selhurst Park, where the 26-year-old has a contract until 2027.
According to former Man United scout Mick Brown, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs keeping an eye on Eze’s development, with the Gunners being the newest team to join the race.
The scout stated that these big clubs are looking to see if the midfielder can improve his performances for Palace before they make a move for his signature.
Eze has been the main man once again for the Eagles this season but his efforts are not showing in the stats. The England international has just one goal and no assists across his opening seven Premier League games, which has raised red flags.
Big clubs have doubts over Eberechi Eze’s consistency says former Premier League scout
Speaking to Football Insider about Eze, Brown has stated that the big clubs in England are waiting for the 26-year-old’s performances to improve but continue to keep a close eye on him at Selhurst Park.
“I’ve heard there are questions about Eze’s consistency,” the former scout said. “We know what he’s capable of, he’s shown he can be top quality, but he needs to show it every week.
“I know the top clubs – Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool are all interested in a move and they’re keeping a close eye on him.
“If you can feed him, he’ll thrive. If he’s not getting that at Palace, he’d be getting it at the top clubs.
“If you’re a talented player at these types of clubs, they’ll happily feed you the ball, but they also expect you to do the business consistently.
“That’s what the scouts will be looking for when they’re watching him at Palace.”
