Arsenal signed David Raya on loan at the start of the season and the Spanish goalkeeper has been outstanding for them so far.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have a verbal agreement with Brentford to sign the 28-year-old permanently at the end of the season. The Gunners will pay a fee of around £27 million for him.
Raya is currently leading the race for the Premier League golden glove with 15 clean sheets, and he will be a key player for Arsenal in the years to come. It is no surprise that the Gunners have decided to make the move permanent.
Although, Aaron Ramsdale did quite well for Arsenal last season, Mikel Arteta decided to bring in another keeper at the start of the season. The English goalkeeper remains a top-class shot-stopper but Raya is a lot more assured with the ball at his feet and he has added a new dimension to the Arsenal play with his distribution from the back.
David Raya would be a bargain signing for Arsenal
Arsenal have put together an exciting squad and they are pushing for major trophies consistently. Raya will be delighted to continue at the London club beyond the season. The player will be glad to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football now.
Arsenal are currently fighting it out with Manchester City for the league title, and it remains to be seen whether they can go all the way.
Raya has established himself as one of the best keepers in European football and signing him permanently for a fee of £27 million could prove to be a huge bargain in today’s market. The goalkeeper is likely to improve with experience and he could be an asset for the Londoners in the long term.
