Arsenal set to step up interest in 31 goal striker

Arsenal set to step up interest in 31 goal striker

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres as they search for a number nine in the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side is currently the most in-form team in the country if not in all of Europe after scoring an incredible 26 goals in their last six Premier League games.

With the goals now flowing freely, the noise surrounding Arsenal and their desperate need for an out-and-out number nine has been quickly hushed.

But with their form in front of goal set to inevitably drop off at some stage, it won’t change the club’s transfer plans to purchase another striker especially when factoring in Gabriel Jesus’ injury concerns.

The Brazilian striker has had his time at Arsenal abruptly interrupted by a persisting knee injury with the 27-year-old only just returning to the squad.

With a new forward acquisition on the table, plenty of names have been linked with the North London club including Sporting Lisbon striker, Gyokeres.

The Swedish forward has scored 31 goals already for the Portuguese club this season and has caught the eye of a number of top European sides.

According to reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola via Team Talk, the Gunners are set to step up their interest in the 25-year-old as the summer window draws closer.

The report also lists PSG as another interested party who could look to replace Kylian Mbappe should the French forward depart.
