Arsenal Set to Sign Ecuadorian Twins Edwin and Holger Quintero
According to sources, Arsenal has reached a preliminary agreement to sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente Del Valle, with the deal set to be finalized when they turn 18 in August 2027.
The two 16-year-olds are currently in London to complete necessary formalities, including signing their contracts, ahead of an official announcement at a later date.
The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, but this move aligns with Arsenal’s strategy of acquiring emerging talent. Notably, the club had recently confirmed the signing of another 16-year-old, Victor Ozhianvuna, who will join from Shamrock Rovers in January 2027.
Independiente Del Valle, a well-respected club in Ecuador, has developed notable players such as Chelsea’s Moisés Caicedo and Piero Hincapié, who transferred to Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan with a permanent option this past September.
Arsenal also faced competition from several top European clubs but succeeded in signing the Quintero twins amidst a wave of young talent acquisitions, including teenagers Kendrick Páez and Deinner Ordonez, who are set to join Chelsea from Independiente.
Reports indicate that Arsenal has been monitoring the Quintero twins for over a year. Edwin is known for his speed as a right winger and has drawn comparisons to a young Neymar, while Holger is recognized as a promising attacking midfielder.
This recruitment effort is seen as a significant achievement for Arsenal’s academy team, particularly in light of the clear pathways to the first team that recent young players such as Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and Max Dowman have successfully navigated.
Dowman, set to turn 16 in December, secured a scholarship contract with Arsenal in October and has already made his Premier League and Champions League debuts this season, notably becoming the youngest player in Champions League history during a substitute appearance against Slavia Prague last month.
