Lorenzo Musetti is now just two victories away from reclaiming his spot in the ATP Finals, having outplayed Alexandre Muller in the quarter-finals of the Hellenic Championships in Athens. The Italian secured his place in the semi-finals with a straight-sets win, finishing with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted 82 minutes.
Musetti’s journey is critical; to surpass Felix Auger-Aliassime in the rankings, he must win the tournament. Auger-Aliassime recently overtook him after reaching the final in Paris, putting additional pressure on Musetti to perform well in Athens.
Musetti will now face Sebastian Korda, who also had a straightforward victory over Miomir Kecmanovic, winning 6-3, 6-2 in just 58 minutes. Korda showcased his fantastic serving skills, landing 13 aces and converting 30 out of 33 first serves—an impressive feat as he looks for his first professional title.
In the other semi-final, Novak Djokovic advanced after a hard-fought match against Nuno Borges, winning 7-6(1), 6-4 in 1 hour and 48 minutes. Djokovic will meet Yannik Hanfmann in the last four. Hanfmann, a German qualifier, made it through by defeating Francisco Cerundolo, also in a closely contested encounter, finishing 7-6(3), 6-4 after another 1 hour and 48 minutes on the court.
Over in Metz, France, Cameron Norrie continued his quest for another title at the Moselle Open. The British player faced Lucky Loser Kyrian Jacquet in the quarter-finals and triumphed after a tough battle, overcoming him with a score of 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 25 minutes. As the remaining seed, Norrie is now on track for his second semi-final appearance of the season, chasing the sixth title of his career.
Reflecting on his match, Norrie noted, “He surprised me a lot. He was mixing it up really well… but I managed to stay tough.” In a closely contested match, Norrie clinched victory by pulling ahead in the final stretch, winning the last 11 points to finish strong.
Norrie will next face Lorenzo Sonego, who defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 7-6(2) in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, rising star Learner Tien made headlines by advancing to his second tour-level semi-final after coming back to beat Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. At just 19, Tien has already made history, becoming the youngest American man to achieve 30 wins in a season since Andy Roddick in 2002. His resilience and skill are garnering attention as he continues to establish himself on the tour.
