AUGUSTA, Ga. — Augusta National Golf Club is teaming up with the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area to make a $5 million donation towards recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene.
In a press release on Thursday morning, the club announced that the donation would support the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund.
This donation comes in addition to previous contributions from the club, the CFCSRA, and the Medical College of Georgia Foundation towards hurricane relief efforts.
“I was in Augusta in the days right after the storm and witnessed firsthand its devastating impact,” stated Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley in the release. “Our employees, neighbors, friends, and business owners are in need of immediate and significant assistance to navigate through the challenges faced throughout Augusta at this moment.”
“Augusta National and the Community Foundation are committed to supporting our community. Our objective is to make a meaningful impact when it matters most, and we hope that our donation will encourage others to get involved or consider how they can contribute to this essential cause.”
The club mentioned that a portion of their previous donations went to the American Red Cross, which has organized mobile feeding stations in the Harrisburg area and a recovery center at the HUB for Community Innovation on Chaffee Avenue.
