Barcelona Set High Price for Manchester United Target Raphinha – Latest on Man United’s Transfer Pursuit

FC Barcelona slap mammoth price tag on Manchester United target Raphinha - Man United News And Transfer News

Long-term Manchester United target Raphinha has been given the astronomical price tag of €90 million by FC Barcelona.

The Red Devils are keen to add a winger to their squad this summer as numerous players such as Antony and Marcus Rashford failed to live up to expectations last season.

In addition, in the likely event that both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood depart the club and possibly Facundo Pellistri, United are starting to look a little light in this area.

Michael Olise was seen as a major target but United’s inaction and focus on other targets has resulted in his moving to Bayern Munich, despite a late hijack attempt to bring the player to Old Trafford.

One winger that United have had long term interest in is that of Barcelona’s Raphinha, who was admired by the Red Devils when he was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League before his move to Spain in 2022.

Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that the club would be willing to sell the Brazil winger but only at a massive price.

He “is a player highly valued by the Barça sports area and also by Hansi Flick, from what the German coach has been able to see of the Brazilian’s evolution,” the outlet says.

Nonetheless, the whole footballing world is fully aware of the financial difficulties Barcelona are in and they are desperate to sell players who can bring in lucrative fees such as Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, who have both been linked to a move to Old Trafford in the past.

Therefore, “he is the one with the highest market value for those considered ‘expendable’. Hence, he is a player for whom the club is attentive to what may happen. If he continues, there is no problem because he contributes a lot. And if he decides to leave, it will always be because an offer arrives that the club estimates, at least, at €90 million.”

They arrive at this rather interesting conclusion because they rejected an offer of €80 million last summer and he has a contract until 2027.

If such an offer arrived, it is reported that the club believe a foreign side would have already convinced the player of a move.

Described as “an expert player” who gives his all in every game, he can play on both the right wing and on the left wing, so it is little wonder teams like United hold an interest.

It has been relayed here that Barcelona have also tried to take advantage of United’s previous interest in the player by including him in a deal to sign Kobbie Mainoo, one the side from Old Trafford have naturally little interest in.

The Red Devils are clearly prioritising moves for a centre back, a striker and a midfielder but if they manage to sell Greenwood and Sancho, there is little doubt a winger would rocket up the agenda. However, if Raphinha is to be the player they pursue, €90 million is unlikely to be something the club would agree to or even could afford.
