Barcelona to Host Champions League Match at Camp Nou
On November 19, 2025, Barcelona announced they will play their upcoming Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Spotify Camp Nou. This marks the Catalan club’s return to their home stadium after more than two years away.
This Saturday, Barcelona will first face Athletic Bilbao in a La Liga showdown, although the attendance will be limited to 45,401 due to ongoing renovations.
The club confirmed that they will resume European football on December 9 against Frankfurt, following UEFA’s approval of their request to return to the Camp Nou, stating that all necessary requirements have been fulfilled.
Renovations, which began in the summer of 2023, are aimed at modernizing the stadium and expanding its capacity to 105,000. Initially, it was hoped that Barcelona would be back playing home matches last November, but various delays have since postponed their return, resulting in many games being played at the Estadi Olímpic.
In a statement, Barcelona expressed their excitement to compete again at their stadium and emphasized their commitment to the comprehensive transformation of the new Spotify Camp Nou. They had received initial permission to reopen the stadium in October with a capacity limit of 25,991; however, they considered this figure inadequate for a profitable return.
Earlier in November, the club held a test event at Camp Nou, attracting nearly 23,000 fans to an open training session, which club president Joan Laporta deemed a success.
In order to finance the refurbishment project, Barcelona secured €1.45 billion (approximately $1.6 billion) from various investors.
