Ronald Araújo Takes Mental Health Break from Barcelona
Barcelona has supported defender Ronald Araújo in taking a break to focus on his mental health, as confirmed by sources. The 26-year-old has had a challenging season, with 15 appearances across all competitions. He received a red card during last week’s Champions League match against Chelsea, which ended in a 3-0 loss for Barcelona.
Araújo missed the recent 3-1 victory over Alavés, which the club attributed to a stomach issue. However, ahead of Tuesday’s LaLiga match against Atlético Madrid, coach Hansi Flick revealed that Araújo has been facing personal challenges.
A reliable source clarified that, while Araújo’s physical condition is satisfactory, he has been struggling mentally and has requested time off to recuperate. Flick emphasized the importance of respecting Araújo’s privacy regarding his situation, stating, “Ronald is not ready at the moment. It’s a private situation, and I don’t want to comment further.”
Araújo joined Barcelona in 2018, starting with the B team before moving to the first team. Since then, he has made 190 appearances and scored 12 goals, becoming an integral part of the team’s leadership alongside players like Marc-André ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and Pedri.
