During a 10-year career in the NFL, Detroit Lions superstar Barry Sanders was among the elite running backs in the league, and despite playing for a only decade, he is considered by some to be the best to ever play the position.
Unfortunately for Sanders, the Lions didn’t do much to surround him with the talent needed to become a legitimate title contender in the NFC, as Detroit failed to have much success in the NFL playoffs, resulting in the Hall of Famer ending his career prematurely without a Super Bowl title.
Sanders chose to walk away from the game on his own terms, and he never really explained why he decided to retire at 31 years old while still considered to be the league’s best running back.
Despite the controversial decision to retire, Sanders is revered as one of the best to ever do it and has become more vocal in his retirement than he was during his playing career.
However, things took a turn for the worse recently with Sanders having a health scare, which sent shockwaves throughout the NFL and the Lions organization.
Sanders shared an update on Twitter about how he’s doing and admitted that he’s not 100 percent back to form just yet. He also said fans should take his health scare as a sign to check on their own health.
1st, I can’t thank family, friends, & fans enough. The outpouring of love & support over the past month has been incredibly humbling.
I have been cleared to return to my normal activities & my next stop is Cleveland on 7/27 at the @nsccshow
Let’s all use this scare to… https://t.co/31VWuQpT7V

Fortunately for Sanders, he’s on the road to recovery, and if he attacks it the same way he went at defenses in the NFL, he’ll be fine when it is all said and done.
As for his Lions, Detroit is trending up and could contend for a Super Bowl title this coming season.
