Bayer Leverkusen’s Malik Tillman to Miss Additional Two Weeks Due to Injury
LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Bayer Leverkusen forward Malik Tillman will be sidelined for another two weeks following his return from international duty with the United States, where he sustained a thigh injury.
The Bundesliga club announced on Sunday that an examination conducted in Leverkusen revealed the full extent of Tillman’s injury and the expected recovery period.
The 23-year-old player experienced a cramp in his thigh during training last Monday, which resulted in him missing the U.S. team’s friendly match against Australia, as well as Leverkusen’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Mainz in the Bundesliga this past Saturday.
American coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed hope that the injury would not be serious, stating, “Hope that it’s not a big issue.”
