Manchester United are set to imminently announce their first summer signing, having agreed terms to secure the services of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
United have also agreed personal terms with another Dutchman, Matthijs de Ligt. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming negotiations between the Red Devils and Bayern Munich are progressing well.
While the Bavarian giants’ willingness to sell De Ligt could help United secure their second signing of the summer swiftly, their other transfer plans have the potential to have a negative impact on the Premier League giants’ transfer business.
Apart from their attack and defence, INEOS also intend to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s side by signing a midfielder or two this summer.
Earlier this summer, Stade Rennais talent Desire Doue emerged as one of their targets, with a report even claiming that United have made an approach for the attacking midfielder. However, things have been quiet on that front in recent days.
Interestingly, now French newspaper Le Parisien are claiming that Bayern Munich have made a first offer for the French talent.
It is understood the German outfit offered around €35 million including bonuses for the 19-year-old. However, the Ligue 1 side turned down the bid.
It remains to be seen if Bayern will return with an improved bid for Doue, who raised eyebrows with his silky dribbling ability last season.
Bayern have already beaten United to the signature of Michael Olise and could hand them another transfer blow if they get their hands on Doue, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.
Having said that, missing out on Doue is unlikely to be a huge disaster for United, as there is no immediate need for a new playmaker at Old Trafford thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ presence.
Further, earlier today, it emerged that Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho have agreed to ‘draw a line’ on their disagreement after a positive meeting.
The Englishman is now available for selection. Primarily a left winger, Sancho is also capable of creating chances from the middle of the park.
