Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell is in no rush to secure a move away from the club, despite being excluded from the first team by new coach Enzo Maresca for the upcoming season.
Maresca publicly stated last month that it would be best for Chilwell to find a new club, but with the transfer window closed in Europe’s big five leagues, the left-back is content to stay at Chelsea until at least the January transfer window, as reported by Football Insider.
Although there were links to Manchester United due to their left-back issues, the club decided not to pursue Chilwell, leaving him in a difficult situation.
Chilwell, who has a contract with Chelsea until 2027, continues to earn £200k-a-week despite not playing. The 27-year-old is the second-highest earner at the club, behind only captain Reece James.
Given his injury record and recent performances, it’s understandable why clubs may be hesitant to sign him. However, if Chilwell can stay healthy, he has the potential to be a top player.
For now, Chilwell remains at Chelsea, and only time will tell where his future lies.
