Bill Belichick Reveals His Thoughts On Bryce Young's Benching

The Carolina Panthers are starting veteran Andy Dalton over struggling, second-year quarterback Bryce Young this week and possibly beyond.

Young has not performed great through the first 18 games of his NFL career (11 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions), which is why first-year head coach Dave Canales is going with the veteran in Dalton for the time being.

On Inside the NFL recently, legendary former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick gave his thoughts on what has gone wrong for Carolina and Young.

“We saw Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield in Carolina, and now they’re both having a good amount of success…Make sure you evaluate your players correctly…The guys that you have every day, you got to get those right,” Belichick said.

Carolina clearly has not been able to put together good, consistent evaluations at their most significant positions over the last couple of seasons.

This organization is light years away from the Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly days.

They have struggled at quarterback over the last couple of seasons and traded away a bunch of significant names as well.

Those names include All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, 1,000-yard wide receiver D.J. Moore, and Pro Bowl edge-rusher Brian Burns.

Now, the last chance for Young, in Carolina at least, is that he sits and learns from Dalton for a few weeks.

If he can translate what he sees in games into what he does in practice, perhaps Canales could give him another opportunity to start.

But if he fails to succeed at that, then a trade could be on the horizon.
