The Buffalo Bills have started the 2024 NFL season with a 4-2 record despite some of the inadequacies they’ve faced on both sides of the ball. They nearly lost to the New York Jets, and have lost games to the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. One of the potential reasons for their losses was a kicking issue, as Tyler Bass hasn’t looked himself this season. Bass has been a solid kicker to this point in his career, but for whatever reason, he’s off to a slow start. With that in mind, Aaron Wilson recently reported that the Bills worked out five kickers this week, including Lucas Havrisik, who was signed to their practice squad already.

This shouldn’t come as a shock to many Bills fans given Bass’ struggles. Teams have gone through some bad kicking luck all season, it’s not just Bass and the Bills. However, Bass’ performances have left something to be desired, and it’s never a bad idea to have competition in the locker room. With any luck, Bass will get back to his old ways this weekend to help make things easier on Josh Allen, as well as the defense. If he misses any more kicks, the Bills might have to seriously consider a personnel change, as much as they like Bass in the organization. Teams can’t afford to lose any games this year, especially in the AFC, and they need to make sure they have kickers who can get the job done every week.
