In one of the six quarterback draft selections made in round one of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the Denver Broncos selected Oregon’s Bo Nix with the No. 12 overall pick.
Even after trading for former New York Jets first-round quarterback Zach Wilson, Sean Payton felt like the Broncos needed one more competitor.
They felt like the All-Pac-12 performer was worth the pick.
Nix had a very exciting message for Broncos fans after he was chosen.
“I am so excited to be a Bronco. This is such a dream come true. From Day 1, Denver was my No. 1,” the 24-year-old stated Thursday night.
Bo Nix’s message to Broncos Country:
“I am so excited to be a Bronco. This is such a dream come true. From Day 1, Denver was my No. 1”
“Broncos Country, let’s go!”

Within Denver’s quarterback room stands Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson, and now Bo Nix.
It should start out as a real competition with the 27-year-old Stidham being the most experienced of the three and Wilson having the most starting experience in recent years.
Nix should be the starter in the long-term.
He, like Payton’s legendary, Super Bowl-winning quarterback in New Orleans named Drew Brees, was a big-time starter in college.
In fact, he started five years across his time with the Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks.
That is another thing.
He saw everything at the college level from elite defenses in the SEC to explosive offenses in the Pac-12.
His big game experience is also a bonus.
Look for him to sit and learn for a few games before taking over as the starter.
This is Sean Payton’s guy, and that should excite Broncos fans.
Remember, Russell Wilson was not.
