Borussia Dortmund CEO discusses potential Mason Greenwood transfer in ongoing talks with Manchester United – Latest News and Transfer Updates

Man United expected to laugh off Juventus, Atletico Madrid's derisory bids for Mason Greenwood - Man United News And Transfer News

Borussia sporting director Sebastian Kehl has refused to rule out a move for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood amidst suggestions that the two clubs have already held initial talks regarding the topic.

Greenwood confirmed his Getafe departure over the weekend after a very successful loan spell with the Spanish club.

He bagged 10 goals and six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions on his way to winning the club’s Player of the Season award.

He was an almost ever-present player for Jose Bordalas as he helped Getafe finish in 12th place in La Liga. Understandably, Getafe are interested in having him again for at least one more season.

However, they may be outdone in their efforts to lure him back to Estadio Coliseum by bigger clubs in Europe with far deeper pockets such as Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Barca have also been mentioned as an interested party in Greenwood but links on that front seem to have gone cold.

Another top club in Europe thought to be admirers of the Carrington academy graduate is Dortmund and now The Telegraph have given a slight update on this.

The newspaper states that the Bundesliga giants have held “exploratory discussions” with United about a potential loan spell for Greenwood, who is also on the radar of at least two Premier League sides.

Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl spoke to the media ahead of the club’s Champions League final clash against Real Madrid this weekend and addressed the Greenwood rumours.

He said, “I don’t want to talk about any rumours at the moment because it doesn’t make sense. Let’s play the final on Saturday first.”

“Of course, we have plans for next season and we have discussed many scenarios but let’s focus on Saturday and then we’ll see how we move on.”

When pressed further about the Englishman and whether he’s a footballer Dortmund like, Kehl replied, “I don’t want to talk about that now.”

It’s understood that United preference would be to permanently sell Greenwood but if this option does not materialise, the Red Devils are open to another loan deal with an obligation to buy for a set price.
