Boulter successfully defends Nottingham title with two-match triumph in one day

Boulter Defends Her Nottingham Title After Winning Two Matches In One Day

Katie Boulter emerged victorious at the Nottingham Open once again, triumphing after winning two matches on the final day, including a win over Karolina Pliskova in the final.

Prior to the final day of the WTA 250 tournament in Nottingham, the British player faced a challenging task. Down by one set in her semi-final against Emma Raducanu, she needed to overcome this deficit to defend her title.

Boulter defeated Raducanu in a grueling match that lasted over three hours, leaving her fatigued for the final showdown against the former world no. 1 player, who had also played her semi-final match on the same day.

The conditions were even as both players pushed their exhausted bodies to the limit. With the support of the home crowd, Boulter took an early lead by breaking her opponent’s serve in the opening game.

She maintained her advantage until 4-2 in the first set, but then faced a setback as she lost momentum, dropping four consecutive games to lose the set 4-6 after losing 16 of the next 20 points.

Fueled by determination and the crowd’s support, Boulter staged a comeback in the second set. She once again secured an early break and this time consolidated it with another break, clinching the set 6-3 and forcing a decider.

In the final set, Boulter displayed superior play, breaking Pliskova’s serve three times while conceding one break of her own, ultimately dominating the set with a score of 6-2. This victory marked her third career WTA Tour-level title and her second win in Nottingham.
