Bournemouth aims for Tyler Adams’ return on October 19th

Tyler Adams back available for Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth is aiming to have American midfielder Tyler Adams back in action following the October international break.

Adams, who has not yet featured this season, has been sidelined following back surgery lasts summer. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder featured in all three of the Americans’ Copa America group stage matches, fighting through back spasms to be part of the action.

However, Adams was forced to undergo surgery, which has delayed his return to club action with Bournemouth.

The former New York Red Bulls homegrown moved to Bournemouth from Leeds United in Summer 2023 but has only made one start since then. Adams underwent a pair of hamstring surgeries in 2023 which has also hampered his time on the South Coast.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola confirmed Adams’ positive recovery from his summer surgery, admitting that a return to play could come in the next nine days.

“He’s coming from a period of 18-20 months where he has played very little football, so we cannot rush anything,” Iraola told BBC Sport. “He has completed all the checks and is ready to train with the group. I hope he’s going to help us from the Arsenal game.”

Adams’ absence has been a major loss for both the Cherries and the USMNT this year, forcing others to step up at both club and international level. A return against Arsenal would provide Adams with a positive start to hopeful USMNT involvement during the CONCACAF Nations League Quarterfinals this November.

The Cherries host Arsenal on Oct. 19 before visiting Aston Villa seven days later in Birmingham.
