Ever since the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime in the Super Bowl in February, there’s been a lot of speculation about the immediate future of star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Aiyuk has made it abundantly clear to general manager John Lynch and the 49ers front office that he wants a lucrative long-term contract extension and has the numbers on the field to back up his request.

However, the team has been increasingly reluctant to pay the up-and-coming wideout what he desires, as it seems as though he wants to be paid $30 million annually rather than the $26 million per season, which is rumored to be what the team is offering.

Although there have been a lot of rumors about the 49ers trying to trade Aiyuk, the team has denied any interest in doing so, which seems to have been false, as a report surfaced about San Francisco trying to move him to the Washington Commanders ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Apparently, that isn’t sitting too well with Aiyuk, who took to Instagram to call out his team for trying to trade him when they said they weren’t going to do that via NFL on ESPN.

With Aiyuk having no problem publicly calling out the 49ers, it may only be a matter of time before San Francisco finds a trader partner and ships him elsewhere ahead of the 2024 NFL season, which gets underway in September.

However, it could also speed up the negotiation process, making it easier for the talented wideout to get what he wants, but it remains to be seen which direction the team goes in from here.
