Breakdown of Prize Money and Ranking Points for the 2024 Birmingham Classic WTA Tournament


The 2024 Birmingham Classic will take place from June 17th to 23rd, and details about the prize money have been disclosed.

It is one of the three grass-court events happening in the UK this month and is part of the WTA 250 series. This tournament acts as a bridge between clay and grass, easing the transition for the women players.

Known for its quality and competitive matchups, the event boasts three Grand Slam champions on the entry list, including Jelena Ostapenko, Barbora Krejcikova, and Elise Mertens.

The tournament features a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, such as Karolina Pliskova, Lesia Tsurenko, Mirra Andreeva, and Diana Shnaider. The local fans will be supporting Britain’s Katie Boulter, the only British player in the initial entry list.

Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic will utilize a special ranking to participate in the event. Players like China’s Yue Yuan and Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva will look to extend their success from previous surfaces to grass courts.

The 32-player singles field will compete for a total prize pool of $267,082. The distribution of prize money and points will vary from the first round to the final.

Players eliminated in the first round will receive $2,890 and 1 point, while those progressing to the second round will earn $4,040 and 30 points.

Quarterfinalists will be awarded $6,608 and 54 points, whereas semifinalists will earn $11,610 and 98 points. The finalists will receive a larger portion of the total prize money.
