Aaron Ramsey Ends Tenure with Pumas Following Injury Setback
Welsh international Aaron Ramsey has parted ways with Pumas of Liga MX after sustaining a muscle injury, as reported by sources to ESPN Mexico.
The 34-year-old midfielder had not featured for Pumas since September, having only made six appearances since his signing in July.
His time on the field was significantly hindered by his recovery from hamstring surgery earlier this year.
Although he was a highly anticipated summer addition for the Liga MX side, Ramsey started only three matches during his short stint.
With Ramsey no longer on the squad, Pumas currently sits in 13th place and aims to secure a position in the top 10 to qualify for the playoffs with two matches remaining in the 2025 Apertura.
Off the pitch, Ramsey is also facing a personal challenge concerning the disappearance of his dog, Halo. He has been actively seeking assistance to find his pet and was unavailable to train with Pumas while conducting searches in Guanajuato.
Ramsey joined Pumas on a free transfer after concluding his second spell with his formative club, Cardiff City. During an 11-year career at Arsenal, he secured three FA Cup titles before moving to Juventus, where he captured a Serie A championship.
The midfielder has earned 86 caps for the Welsh national team and was recently called up to the squad after a 13-month hiatus but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
This report was contributed by ESPN’s Fernando Villa and Adriana Maldonado.
