Breaking Basketball: Latest News, Scores, Statistics, In-Depth Analysis, and Updated Standings

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in BBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An interesting game for Bayern Muenchen (26-5) which hosted second-ranked ALBA Berlin (24-7) in Muenchen. First ranked Bayern Muenchen had an easy win, 77-53. Bayern had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match, with Bayern making 7 blocks. The former international Jan Wimberg (206-1996) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Niels Giffey (200-1991, college: UConn) contributed with 8 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Matt Thomas (195-1994, college: Iowa St.) replied with 12 points for ALBA. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed the bench players to play, saving the starting five for next games. Bayern Muenchen have a solid three-game winning streak and maintain the first position with a 26-5 record. ALBA, on the other hand, keeps the second place with seven games lost. Bayern are looking forward to facing Ludwigsburg (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ALBA will play against Bonn (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

The game in Bonn was also worth mentioning. Fourth ranked s Oliver Baskets (23-9) played at the court of 7th ranked Telekom Baskets (19-13). s Oliver Baskets managed to secure a 9-point victory, 100-91. It ended a two-game winning streak for Telekom Baskets. A great performance by American guard Isaiah Washington (185-1998, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group), who helped win the game with 18 points and 8 assists, and Otis Livingston II, who added 24 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. American point guard Glynn Watson Jr (183-1997, college: Nebraska) responded with 22 points and 5 assists. Telekom Baskets’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. s Oliver Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. Wuerzburg maintains the fourth position with a 23-9 record. Bonn, on the other side, keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Wuerzburg will play against Heidelberg (#16) at home in the next round, which should be an easy win for them. Bonn will play against the league’s second-placed ALBA (#2) in Berlin and hope to get back on the winning track.

A very close game took place in Weissenfels between MBC and EnBW Ludwigsburg. Fourteenth ranked MBC (10-22) got a very close home victory over higher-ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (18-14). MBC managed to escape with a 1-point win, 91-90, on Sunday evening. It was quite a big embarrassment for the guest team. The winners were led by Johnathan Stove who scored 28 points. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Jeff Roberson did not help to save the game for Ludwigsburg. EnBW Ludwigsburg’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested a total of eleven players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Weissenfels moved up to thirteenth place, which they share with Goettingen, while loser EnBW Ludwigsburg keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Weissenfels will meet Goettingen (#14) on the road in the next round. Ludwigsburg will play against the league leader, Bayern (#1), and will have a slim chance for a victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 32: Bamberg smashed Crailsheim on the road, 109-82. Hamburg lost to Chemnitz on its own court, 79-85. Ulm managed to outperform Heidelberg in a road game, 73-57. Oldenburg managed to beat Tuebingen at home, 79-63. Rostock was defeated by Braunschweig on the opponent’s court, 76-70. Vechta beat Goettingen in a home game, 81-75. The most impressive performance of the 32nd round was 23 points and 7 assists by Tommy Kuhse of Vechta.
