Recently, the New York Jets finally were able to move off of former No. 2 overall draft pick Zach Wilson, with the storied NFL franchise trading the struggling backup quarterback to the Denver Broncos.

This was an interesting and unexpected move by the Broncos, who drafted Bo Nix out of the University of Oregon in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, this was a long-awaited move for the Jets, who desperately wanted to move Wilson, especially after he was unable to shoulder the load for injured superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the 2023 campaign.

Interestingly enough, now that the Jets have traded Wilson, they have a total of five quarterbacks on the roster, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

With Rodgers coming off a severe Achilles injury, which he suffered in the first series of the Week 1 showdown with the division-rival Buffalo Bills last season, the Jets seemed to want to have a full quarterback room, at least for the time being.

Veteran journeyman Tyrod Taylor will be Rodgers’ primary backup during the upcoming 2024 NFL season unless something happens during training camp or the preseason.

Jordan Travis, Colby Suits, and Andrew Peasley will be in competition for the third spot, with Travis owning an early edge thanks to his draft position.

Once again, the outcome of the 2024 NFL season will solely depend on the healthy and on-field production of Rodgers, who could make this team a legitimate Super Bowl title contender if he can resemble the four-time NFL MVP he was with the Green Bay Packers.

Only time will tell if Rodgers can stay healthy next season and if he’s got anything left in the tank in terms of being one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
