Brenden Aaronson helps Leeds United close out win over Cardiff City

Leeds United rebounded from its first EFL Championship defeat of the new season by earning a shutout win in Wales.

Brenden Aaronson helped ice a 2-0 result over Cardiff City by assisting on Joel Piroe’s insurance finish. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder now has two goals and one assist in six league appearances for the Lilywhites.

23-year-old Largie Ramazani opened the scoring for Daniel Farke’s men in the 30th minute, celebrating his first goal for the club.

Aaronson, who played the full 90 minutes in midfield, had a major say in the final scoreline. After picking up possession just in front of midfield, Aaronson sprung Piroe upfield before watching the Dutch attacker rifle home near post.

The 23-year-old Aaronson finished the match with three duels won, two defensive recoveries, and one offensive chance created.

Leeds United sits sixth place in the EFL Championship heading into Matchweek 7’s showdown with Haji Wright and Coventry City.
