The latest edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks has given us unprecedented access, showing real footage of the New York Giants’ offseason.
Never had we seen decision-makers assess their team’s situation, conduct interviews with rookies, talk to players about free agency and whatnot, and it’s been quite the enjoyable content thus far.
The most recent episode gave us a glimpse of some of the pre-draft interviews.
Notably, one showed how high HC Brian Daboll was high on Malik Nabers all along (Via Dov Kleiman).

Before hosting him for a visit, he told GM Joe Schoen that he had been watching his tape all day, adding that he was an absolute baller.
Then, he asked Nabers how he handled losing and not being involved early in the game, and he clearly loved the LSU star’s answers.
Nabers told him that he didn’t handle losing well, up to the point where he hated losing more than he loved winning.
As for not being involved, he claimed that he took it pretty hard, especially if he had gotten those play calls and reps in the week, and then that doesn’t happen in the ball game.
Coach Daboll appreciated the honesty, adding that he wanted that kind of competitive mindset and juice from his players.
He did say that he might want to harness that a little bit when he gets to the pros, but, clearly, those were the kinds of answers he was looking for.
Nabers is a special talent, and if he tames that character but keeps that competitiveness, he might be the league’s next superstar WR.
