British hockey coaches attend ceremony at Buckingham Palace

GB COACHES GO TO BUCKINGHAM PALACE


Great Britain coaches Sean Alderson, Mike Clancy, Jeff Colton, Euan King, and Pete Russell were among over 300 Olympic and Paralympic coaches invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate their significant contributions to sport in the UK.

The event was organized in partnership with UK Coaching and UK Sport, honoring coaches from both summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic sports for their vital support to world-class athletes in the country.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, a patron of UK Coaching, offered praises to the coaches during the reception, where they also had the opportunity to meet her personally.

Minister for Sport, Media, Civil Society, and Youth, Stephanie Peacock, along with representatives from the Department of Media, Culture, and Sport (DCMS), were present to recognize the exceptional coaches behind Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

This reception marked a significant acknowledgment of coaches in the UK, showcasing the importance of ongoing support for coaches to continue their vital role in sports at all levels.

Ice Hockey UK CEO, Henry Staelens, expressed his pride for the coaches and congratulated them on the well-deserved recognition, emphasizing their crucial role in the GB Programme.

Dr. Kate Baker, Director of Performance and People at UK Sport, commended the dedication and commitment of coaches across the UK, highlighting the importance of celebrating their hard work in supporting British athletes.

Mark Gannon, CEO of UK Coaching, recognized the coaches’ efforts in helping athletes reach their full potential and emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting coaches in all sports and at every level.
