Brock Purdy Sends A Clear Message About His Contract Talk

By all accounts, Brock Purdy has outshined all expectations of him heading into the NFL.

He was the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, a position that is commonly referred to as “Mr. Irrelevant.”

While this position has traditionally lived in infamy, Purdy has turned around this narrative.

He brought the San Francisco 49ers to the NFC Championship in his rookie season and led them to the Super Bowl in his sophomore campaign.

Purdy has defied all odds to this point in his career and looks to keep elevating the 49ers’ offense moving forward.

While this might be the case in his mind, there is a looming elephant in the room.

Purdy is still playing on his rookie deal, and since he was a seventh-round pick, he’s not exactly the richest guy on the team.

Fans and analysts have clamored for the 49ers to extend Purdy, signing him to a contract that is in line with his starting quarterback counterparts.

While the public is insistent on Purdy getting paid, that appears to be the furthest thing from his mind.

According to Purdy via Pro Football Talk, these contract negotiations are “nonsense,” and that he is much more focused on winning than getting paid.

This might be the case, but as this Pro Football Talk article points out, Purdy is the 90th highest-paid QB in the league.

At some point, this number will get a bit closer to the league average, but for now, the 49ers can pay other players to best build the team around Purdy.
