The Denver Broncos are finally hitting their stride in the 2024 season, notching two consecutive wins against the Buccaneers and Jets.
As they gear up for Sunday’s home game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the team is set to resume practice on Wednesday.
However, they’ll be without running back Tyler Badie, who suffered a concerning injury in Week 4.
In response to Badie’s setback, the Broncos wasted no time exploring their options.
KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported that the team held workouts for both Salvon Ahmed and Elijah Dotson.
Taking swift action, the Broncos signed former Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed to their practice squad on Tuesday.
To make room for Ahmed, the team bid farewell to wide receiver Kaden Davis, who had only recently joined the practice squad.
The current running back roster includes Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, Blake Watson, and the injured Badie.
With Badie’s status up in the air, further roster adjustments may be on the horizon.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Badie could be headed for Injured Reserve, sidelining him for at least four games.
This potential move explains the Broncos’ search for additional depth behind Williams and McLaughlin on the active roster.
Ahmed, a 25-year-old who parted ways with the Dolphins in August, will start on the practice squad.
While there’s a chance he could be called up to the active roster, his long-term prospects with the team remain uncertain.
Barring injuries to the primary running backs, Ahmed may find himself on the waiver wire once again.
With the Raiders looming, Denver’s revamped backfield will be put to the test as they aim for a third straight victory.
