Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has not ruled out a summer exit from Old Trafford, hinting he may consider his options after the 2024 European Championship.
Bruno Fernandes Has Been One Of Manchester United’s Best Players This Season
This season has been challenging for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag’s leadership. Despite disappointing exits in the UEFA Champions League and Carabao Cup, as well as a struggle to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League, Fernandes has consistently stood out as a bright spot for the team.
The Portugal international has featured in 45 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists. Fernandes has been directly involved in more goals than any other United player this season.
Fernandes Does Not Completely Rule Out Man Utd Exit In The Summer
With minority stakeholders Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS looking to make changes at Manchester United, there is speculation about a potential overhaul this summer. While Fernandes is under contract with the club until June 2026, he is not completely certain about his long-term future in the Premier League.
In an interview with DAZN, Fernandes expressed his current contentment but hinted at reevaluating his situation after the FA Cup and the 2024 European Championship:
“I’m not thinking about other things at the moment. Obviously, it doesn’t just depend on me, does it?
“A player always has to want to be here. But at the same time, you have to want him to stay. At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides.”
He continued:
“If I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros because nothing will be able to take my focus away from the FA Cup final and the Euros, as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”
Manchester United is set to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25. Moreover, Portugal will kick off their 2024 European Championship campaign against Czech Republic on June 18.
