After three straight wins, including an inspired victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are firing on all cylinders and currently have the edge in the race for the NFC South division title.
Part of the team’s success this season can be attributed to former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield doing a commendable job being Tom Brady’s successor in Tampa Bay and potentially leading them into the NFL playoffs.
Although Mayfield isn’t in the discussion for being one of the best quarterbacks in the league, he’s done well enough in Tampa Bay that the team appears to be interested in bringing him back for the 2024 campaign.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Buccaneers and Mayfield have a mutual interest in keeping their relationship intact for next season.

If the Buccaneers and Mayfield agree to a new deal, the 28-year-old may have finally found his first stable job in the NFL since he was the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.
Even though Mayfield has excelled this season with the Buccaneers, he has struggled to find any stability in the league since being traded by the Browns to the Carolina Panthers.
Mayfield’s stint with the Panthers was forgettable, to say the least, as he led the team to only one win in his short time as the starter.
Fortunately, Mayfield was able to make an impression with the Los Angeles Rams after taking over for the injured Matthew Stafford.
The Buccaneers liked what they saw in Los Angeles and brought him in to replace Brady, which has gone better than expected, with the team sporting a record of 7-7 coming into Week 16.
