The Houston Texans are set up well to compete for the foreseeable future after they selected C.J. Stroud with the second pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

While most draft pundits had Bryce Young over Stroud, the latter proved to be the superstar between the two as he took the league by storm during his rookie year.

Stroud quickly demonstrated he had a penchant for getting the football to his receivers in tight quarters and seemingly made the right decision on every play.

He was even able to lead Houston to an unexpected playoff run which bodes well for their chances to get back to the postseason in 2024.

There is even some talk of the Texans being a dark horse Super Bowl contender and it’s easy to see why given all the talent across the roster.

Stroud is rising up quarterback rankings and has a chance to accomplish a rare feat via Warren Sharp of Sharp Football.

“it’s been over a decade since a QB led his team to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons in the NFL Andrew Luck & Russell Wilson did it in 2012 & 2013 …but no one since C.J. Stroud has that chance this year,” Sharp said.

Stroud is already in elite company given the numbers he put up his rookie season, but being able to get to the playoffs for a second consecutive year would be quite the feat.

Odds are that Stroud will hit that milestone as he’s got the roster and coaching staff to do so and it’ll be exciting to see him continue to grow into his stardom.
