Cade Cowell steps in for Gio Reyna on US Men’s National Team squad

Cade Cowell replaces Gio Reyna on USMNT roster


There has been a change to the United States Men’s National Team roster as training camp has begun. Today, U.S. Soccer announced that midfielder Gio Reyna will depart camp and return to Dortmund due to a left groin strain. Chivas midfielder Cade Cowell will replace him on the USMNT roster.

The 20-year-old Cowell has 8 caps with the USMNT, with one goal so far. He was with the team for the 2023 Gold Cup. So far this season with Chivas, he has 3 goals and 3 assists.

Reyna will return to his club for further evaluation and recovery, and it’s unknown if he will miss any time on the field. The team remains at 24 players as they prepare to host friendlies against Canada on Saturday and New Zealand on Tuesday.
