The Calgary Flames have signed defenseman Jarred Tinordi to a one-year, two-way contract worth $800K. This comes on the same day that the team officially confirmed they have invited defenseman Tyson Barrie to camp on a PTO.
Tinordi, 32, played the 2023-24 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, registering nine assists over 52 games. In 205 career NHL games with various teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, he may spend a good chunk of this season in the AHL due to the nature of his two-way contract.
Standing at six-foot-six and weighing 229 pounds, Tinordi is known for his toughness, which may be a valuable asset to the Flames.
Tyson Barrie Signs PTO with the Flames
The Flames announced that defenseman Tyson Barrie will join the team on a PTO. Barrie has an impressive offensive record, with 109 goals and 505 points in 809 career games.
Barrie was previously traded to the Nashville Predators and has struggled to find consistency. Despite this, he hopes to earn a contract through the Flames’ PTO opportunity, although there is no guarantee due to the team having many defensemen looking for positions.
Barrie and his camp are confident that he can impress during the PTO and secure a contract with a salary above the league minimum.
