The Dallas Cowboys are trying to turn themselves into a contender.

Unfortunately for them, they are coming off of one of the worst losses in franchise history last Sunday at home to the Detroit Lions.

Offensively, it feels like All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is the lone superstar.

At least, that’s how former NFL MVP Cam Newton feels.

“There’s only one dog on the offensive side of the ball for the Cowboys…and that’s CeeDee Lamb. I need to see more,” Newton said on First Take on Friday.

Lamb is on pace for another great season in Dallas it seems like.

Through six games, he has 32 receptions for 467. yards and two touchdowns.

While the touchdowns are a little low, he is on pace to easily eclipse 1,000 yards.

The problem for the Cowboys is that they can’t win by just throwing the ball to Lamb all the time.

Defenses have started and will continue to try to lock him up so that they can make quarterback Dak Prescott beat them with somebody else.

So far this season, even when Lamb has been productive, the offense has struggled to find loads of success.

It has produced over 20 points just twice through six games.

Without a truly elite backfield, this offense almost feels a little one-dimensional because of Prescott and Lamb’s connection.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy is going to have to try and improve the play and production of everyone else around Lamb.

Dallas will travel to face San Francisco on Sunday Night Football after their bye week this week.
